FAQ

  • What is Herringbone flooring?
The herringbone pattern is named for a fancied resemblance to the bones of a fish such as a herring. And then it becomes one of the most popular flooring designs in the world--an arrangement of rectangles used for floor tilings. One set of our Herringbone flooring has A & B type of pattern, herringbone arranges planks in a zig-zag pattern to produce beautiful results.
  • Is herringbone floor a good idea?
The zigzagging layout of a herringbone flooring installation creates arrows on your floor which produce the look of movement. This intricate design will bring some fluidity and life into your space.
And herringbone floor does make any sized room look bigger. Naturally, your eye will be drawn to the widest part of the design, which takes your eye in the direction they go. So consider it in foyers, hallways and bathrooms for a grandiose feel. This style of flooring is a fantastic space enhancer you should certainly consider for any room refresh. Opting for a lighter-colored Herringbone can make darker spaces seem brighter and more open, which is always a bonus.
  • Is herringbone floor out of style?
Herringbone flooring has a distinct pattern that brings instant sophistication to any space. The herringbone pattern itself is so-called because it bears a resemblance to the skeleton of the herring fish.
Herringbone flooring has been around for centuries, and its popularity is showing no signs of waning. The herringbone pattern was first used in European castle floors and eventually made its way into homes of the nobility. From The White House to Buckingham Palace, herringbone floors have been used to add a touch of luxury and refinement. It became a symbol of wealth and status, and it remains one of the most popular flooring designs to this day.
  • How to care for your herringbone flooring?
The beauty of luxury vinyl tile flooring is just how easy it is to look after. All it takes are a few simple steps to keep your herringbone floor in the best possible condition.

    1. Remove loose dirt and debris from your floor using a dustpan and brush, electrostatic wipes or a vacuum cleaner.
    2. Remove spills quickly and rinse the floor with warm, clean water.
    3. When cleaning the floor, only use cleaning products and disinfectants that are PH neutral.
    4. Avoid swamping the floor with detergent and water. Use it sparingly and remove all liquids from the surface to prevent dirty water and detergent from settling.
    5. Never use abrasive cleaners, scourers, waxers or floor polishes on your herringbone floor.
    6. Avoid dragging or sliding heavy items of furniture across the floor.
  • How to install Herringbone flooring?
There are two different installation types: “Click” and “Glue Down”, each of which has slightly different requirements.

    SPC Herringbone Flooring
Installing our SPC Herringbone Flooring couldn’t be easier thanks to its handy click-system technology. The perfect DIY-friendly flooring option, ideal for first-time fitters or keen DIYers as the planks simply lock into place with no need for glue and/or adhesive nor many household tools.
When installing your herringbone flooring, please note that every board is constructed with a four-sided click system that allows the boards to fit seamlessly together. You will have A boards and B boards. To create the herringbone pattern, you will need to slot the shorter side of one board (known as the ‘header’ joint) into the longer side of the next board at an angle.

    LVT Herringbone Flooring
The floor are divided into Plank A and Plank B, you need to use glue to install and then pave in different directions.
  • How to DIY installation?
On the bright side, you don’t need to be a professional to install herringbone wood flooring inside your house, but we would recommend you speak to a trained professional if you plan to do it yourself. By taking in these simple tips, you will be able to get a feel for whether or not installing your own herringbone flooring is within your wheelhouse or not:

Take measurements and mark your room.
You need to measure and label the area where you are installing it. Edges can look wonky if your wall is not square to the rest of your space.

Even in a simple room, it is important to set it up correctly and then stick to those lines that you marked. This keeps the herringbone pattern straight and stops small milling differences from making the lines go in different directions.

You also want to make sure the pattern points the eye towards a centralized focal point. This could be the main doorway into a room, or it could be a key part of the room like a bay window, fireplace, or centralized desk like you would find in an executive's office.

    Balance your subfloor
When putting in herringbone flooring, it's even more important to make sure the subfloor is smooth because the small herringbone blocks can't hide dips and ridges as well as normal plank flooring can. The result will show any bumps and may make the corners of the blocks a little bit higher.
